Ken Packer’s Articles about the Christian faith

                                   God blesses the world

Three glimpses of God’s ongoing enrichment of a sin-stained world

Do we realise the extent of God’s blessings?

Consider, first, his impact through his Church alone.  For example, in Dictionary of the Christian Church, Frank E. Gaebelein writes, “Broadly speaking, it may be said that almost the whole of education in the Western world from the first until the nineteenth century was in one way or another Christian.”

The spin-offs from this are breathtaking: deliverance from superstition and fear of evil spirits, stable governments, the founding of universities, world leadership in science and technology, promotion of basic human rights, the world-wide spread of the gospel and sharing of the highest code of ethics known to man.

Second, his impact through his Word. “My Word . . . always produces fruit.”  Isaiah 55.11 (Living Bible).

Wherever God’s Word has been freely circulated and acted upon, there has been enlightenment, justice and liberty, including freedom from fear, freedom from want, freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

But, third, God’s greatest blessing yet awaits us at his Son’s return: “All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name.” Psalm 86.9 (NIV).

What is happening now is a mere foretaste of what’s to come.

                                      *                 *                 *

“The Lord is good!  His love and faithfulness will last forever.”

Psalm 100.5 (Bible for Today)
